MERC  commenced operations in 1973 as Thailand’s first executive recruitment service. In 1981 we conducted the first of our annual compensation and benefits surveys. 

MERC provides a broad range of HR services including Executive Search, Compensation & Benefits Surveys, and HR Consulting through two consulting groups:

  1. Executive Searchactivities are managed by Management and Executive Recruitment Consultants Ltd.
  2. Compensation Surveysand HR Consulting activities are managed by Management and Executive Resources Ltd.

MERC Compensation Survey reports by industry and location enable companies to compare internal equity and external competitiveness of compensation with market rates. We provide companies with a report showing ‘Your employees’ compared to ‘Your industry’ or ‘Your location’, matching each company to the market for labour and executive talent. Our Compensation and Benefits surveys continue to be a most reliable guide to pay and benefits practice in Thailand.

 

MERC  HRD Consultantsassist companies in the continuous development of their human resources and with compensation strategies to attract, retain and motivate employees.  We provide specialists in job analysis, job evaluation, the design of job grade structures and salary structure, the development of competency frameworks, performance management strategies, and related training courses with workshops tailored to company requirements. 

 

Origin of MERC 

Prior to the management buyout in 1986, the company was a member of the PA Consulting Group, a UK based management consultancy. PA was founded as Personnel Administration during World War II in London. PA, as it became known after the War drew on the talents of those in charge of reorganizing industry during war years to form the most successful management consultancies of its time, increasing in size and scope to rapidly become the largest consultancy company of its kind internationally, outside the USA. Offices were opened in all countries in Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Jakarta and Tokyo. Although the core business was management consulting, each office also provided recruitment and related HR services. By the 1970’s PA employed over 2,000 people throughout the world and was active in some 80 countries. In line with PA’s policies, each PA country office operated autonomously and in line with its geographic and ethnic environment. In the mid-1980’s PA scaled back its operations in Asia. 

MERC  was formed to continue the recruitment, compensation surveys and HR consulting operations in Thailand after the management buyout in 1986.
